Iris Apfel, Virgil Abloh and Rita Ora join Magnum in Cannes

to Never Stop Playing

At the 2019 Cannes Film Festival on the 16th of May, fashion icon Iris Apfel teamed up with Magnum and a host of special guests to show the world how to Never Stop Playing.

At the stunning setting of the Magnum Beach on La Croisette, Iris joined a debate about pleasure and overcoming obstacles in pursuit of doing what you love. Panellists were selected based on their fearless approach to life and a shared ambition to inspire a generation to let go and just go for it. The panel included chef David Muñoz, actor Palina Rojinski, broadcaster Clara Amfo, musician AYA Nakamura and actor Cristiano Caccamo.

Speaking after the panel discussion, Iris Apfel said: “I’m a strong believer that everyone should have the freedom to indulge in the things that bring them true pleasure, whatever that pleasure might be. I’ve been lucky enough to do some amazing things, so to be here in Cannes with others who share the same belief for living life on their own terms is exciting. I hope we’ve shown people the true pleasure that comes from not letting the fear of being judged stand in your way. Just go for it!.

Iris then headed down to the world-famous Dipping Bar to create her own unique Magnum. Iris created her Magnum by dipping a velvety vanilla ice cream in a luxurious emerald chocolate that reflects her love of colour. She accessorized her Magnum with white chocolate, lime, raspberry popping candy and sugar violets. Finished with Iris’ iconic glasses, this was a Magnum with a smile, a wink and a Never Stop Playing attitude.

The excitement didn’t end there. Everyone lived up to the motto of Never Stop Playing as the day went on.  Magnum hosted a playful and uninhibited evening which saw the likes of [XXX, XXXX and XXXX] dance the night away to beats from fashion icon and DJ Virgil Abloh, who headlined the evening’s entertainment with a 1.5hr set. And to top off the night, Rita Ora blew the crowd away with an amazing surprise performance.

Throughout the evening, guests saw also saw unforgettable performances from French superstar, Aya Nakamura and DJ Dorian, as well as Kiddy Smile and his voguing drag queens, who returned to the space to entertain the crowd for the second time since 2016.
