Where does the colour come from?

In nature raspberries can be red, purple, gold and black. We pick the warm, pink hue of lazy summer days for our luxurious ice cream.
 
Raspberries take on a richer, more brilliant colour when they’re pressed and mixed with sugar to make a puree. Raspberry puree can be found sandwiched between meringue macaroons, or as a sweet surprise at the bottom of an ice cream sundae.

The History of Raspberries

Raspberries have a rich and varied history. These succulent little fruits are actually part of the rose family of plants. Their ancient past goes all the way back to prehistoric times. Seeds have also been found in Roman forts in Britain.
 
People began cultivating raspberries in England and France in the 1600s for their wonderfully intense, sweet flavour.
 
In the past, raspberries have been used for cleaning teeth and in art they’ve symbolised the kindness that flows from the human heart.
