Working with the right partners on the ground, we’re committed to supporting the farming communities who provide the quality ingredients to make our ice cream.
Cocoa farmers
With AWA by Magnum, we've created social impact programmes in Côte D’Ivoire to support women with the education, skills and funding to help them to set up their own or shared businesses.
Magnum's Vanilla for Change Programme
This programme in Madagascar is designed to help smallholder farmers improve their livelihoods with more secure and sustainable sources of natural vanilla.
Tree planting programme
We’re working to help prevent deforestation by distributing and planting multi-purpose trees to use in-farms and off-farms across Côte D’Ivoire.

Sustainably grown ingredients
From bean to bite, we’re committed to making our ice cream more sustainable. That’s why the cocoa, vanilla and almonds we use are sustainably grown.
Cocoa
The cocoa beans we source are not just of the right quality, but sustainably grown, too.
Vanilla
Our vanilla flavouring is sustainably grown by local Rainforest Alliance Certified farmers in the Sava region of northern Madagascar.
Almonds
We use only the highest quality, sustainably grown almonds from California to make our delicious ice creams.

AWA by Magnum is a female empowerment programme in the cocoa farming communities in Côte d’Ivoire. The programme helps women to not only socially and economically establish themselves independently, but to prosper as entrepreneurs through the development or expansion of their own Income Generating Activities (IGAs).
Magnum’s goal is to socially and economically empower 5,000 women in the cocoa farming communities by 2025. Discover more about our programme.
As part of our Cocoa Strategy 2025, different programmes linked to the Cocoa and Forest Initiatives are being implemented to help tackle deforestation with long-term, sustainable solutions in Côte d’Ivoire, where Magnum sources much of its cocoa. These include forest conservation and restoration, with the planting of native tree species in-farms and off-farms. Women and youth of locally impacted communities are involved in diverse activities linked to the preparation of tree seedling nurseries, transportation and plantings, too.
We don't use palm oil as an ingredient in our Magnum products, and for this reason, it's not present on the ingredient list. However, the mono-diglycerides of fatty acids (used as emulsifiers) are derived from palm oil. It is certified by the Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), meaning that it is not linked to deforestation, the development on peatland or the exploitation of workers. We recognise that there are still serious problems within the palm oil industry that we are working hard to address. Find out more about what we are doing.
Milk is traditionally the key ingredient of our ice cream and dairy farms are an important part of Magnum’s ingredient supply chain. We encourage high standards among the farmers we source from – including animal welfare standards, greenhouse gas reduction and biodiversity management. We also offer a variety of vegan flavours including Magnum Vegan Classic, Magnum Vegan Almond, Magnum Vegan Sea Salt Caramel and Magnum Vegan Raspberry Swirl.
